Line-Checks in Nifty19

Turning Audit Findings into Ongoing Control

At Nifty19, we believe a stock audit should do more than report what has happened.

It should help operators influence what happens next.

One of the developments we are most proud of is the introduction of Line-Checks — a feature designed to strengthen control between full stock audits and raise expectations of what stock management systems should deliver.

Many solutions focus on recording data between audits: deliveries, transfers, cellar balances. These are useful tools. They help administration. They speed up the next full audit.

But they do not answer the most important operational question:

Are the actions taken after the last audit actually working?

Line-Checks are designed to close that gap.

Why We Built Line-Checks

In practice, a stock audit often highlights:

  • Problem products
  • Unexplained variance
  • Process weaknesses
  • Recording inconsistencies

Actions are agreed. Procedures are adjusted. Teams are briefed.

Then weeks pass.

By the time the next full audit arrives, it can be difficult to know whether those corrective actions had any real impact.

Between audits, many systems record activity but do not provide structured, explainable performance insight. They help gather data. They do not necessarily help interpret it.

Line-Checks were built to ensure that audit findings translate into ongoing operational control, not just one-off commentary.

What Line-Checks Are — And What They Are Not

Line-Checks are not a replacement for full stock audits.

They are deliberately designed so they cannot drift into being treated as one.

Instead, they sit between audits and focus on a targeted selection of products, typically those highlighted during the previous audit as needing attention.

The emphasis is:

  • Focus
  • Control
  • Explainability
  • Measured improvement

Rather than attempting to review an entire inventory, Line-Checks concentrate on where performance matters most.

How Line-Checks Work in Practice

At a technical level, Line-Checks bring together multiple data streams already within Nifty19 and use them in a structured, controlled way.

For each selected product, the system combines:

  • Daily till sales data, processed consistently
  • Recipe definitions, establishing expected theoretical usage
  • Recorded wastage (till-driven or manually entered)
  • Approved operational adjustments, such as line cleaning for draught products

Using this information, Nifty19 produces a structured product variance view covering the period since the last full audit.

A key design principle is context.

Variance is not presented in isolation. It is viewed alongside known wastage and operational adjustments. This creates a clearer and more balanced picture of performance, rather than defaulting to unexplained loss.

Because till data flows into Nifty19 daily, Line-Checks allow regular, structured insight while operational changes can still be influenced.

Designed with Control and Governance in Mind

From an audit and governance perspective, Line-Checks are tightly controlled by design.

  • The number of products included is capped
  • The scope remains clearly defined
  • Adjustments are visible and transparent
  • The process is auditable

This ensures Line-Checks strengthen the integrity of the audit process rather than dilute it.

They provide insight without undermining the discipline of a full stocktake.

What This Means for Operators

Line-Checks allow sites to:

  • Revisit problem products highlighted at the last audit
  • Assess whether corrective actions are improving performance
  • Identify recurring issues earlier
  • Build confidence in stock control processes
  • Reduce the risk of repeated variance patterns

For multi-site operators, this also creates a more consistent framework for improvement across the estate.

Instead of waiting for the next audit to confirm whether change has worked, sites can monitor targeted lines in a structured and explainable way.

Raising the Standard of Stock Auditing

Our direction with Nifty19 is deliberate.

We are not simply building tools that make audits faster.

We are building tools that make audits more meaningful.

Line-Checks turn audit findings into ongoing control. They create a bridge between audits and give operators clearer visibility of performance while it can still be influenced.

Full audits remain essential.

Line-Checks make what happens between them more valuable.
